Rank Advancement

Cub Scouts earn ranks differently than Boy Scouts do. There is a different rank each year that corresponds to the grade that the Cub Scout is in. The boys are grouped into dens by their rank level and the entire den moves through the Cub Scouting experience together. If a boy joins the Pack later on, he is placed in a den corresponding to that year and he being working on that rank. If a Cub Scout does not earn the rank for a given year (extremely uncommon), he continues on the next year and begins working towards the next rank. You do not have to earn the previous rank level to earn the next rank level.
